At the end of April, three students from Year 7 of St Paul’s Catholic College, Alejandro Garcia Camacho, Lewis Shala and Shannon Moore, travelled to Brighton with their French teacher, Miss Dighton and Teaching Assistant, Miss Lee, to take part in the South East regional final for the Spelling Bee competition. The competition is open to non-native speakers in Year 7 and its aim is to promote language learning and, in particular, spelling at Key Stage 3. There were 150 students taking part from 52 schools and their minds were on the French, German and Spanish alphabets. Who would be able to spell the most words correctly in one minute? The competition was fierce but Alejandro achieved 3rd place overall. The other pupils also did extremely well.
St Paul’s Catholic College Open Day for Admission to Year 7 in 2017 is on Thursday 29th September.
