Residents of Nazareth House Care Home in Hammersmith led thousands of listeners up and down the country in faith-filled and joyful prayer on 12 December 2025, as Radio Maria England broadcast a live Rosary from their home. Joined by Radio Maria’s Priest Director, Fr Toby Lees OP, the event brought together the residents, staff, and listeners across the UK in a moment of shared prayer and contemplation. Beautiful music to accompany the rosary was provided by Radio Maria volunteer and talented musician, Ela Kalicka.
The Rosary was prayed with deep devotion, connecting the residents through prayer and the radio to the wider community of faith. The day was further brightened when, thanks to the generosity of certain benefactors, each of the residents was given a beautifully gift-wrapped Radio Maria Digital Radio, and there were some for religious Sisters too! The gift of these radios means that the residents continue to be connected in prayer with listeners around the country even after the broadcast.
Jutte Staude, General Manager of Nazareth House, expressed her gratitude for the event:
'A heartfelt thank you to Father Toby and Radio Maria for bringing this unique and meaningful experience to our home! It was a day that brought immense joy to our residents and reminded them of the power of prayer and connection.'
Priest Director, Fr Toby Lees OP, said of the occasion:
‘Nazareth House is a place where the Gospel is lived out day-in day-out, through care of the sick, the elderly, and the most vulnerable. Most of this work goes on unseen by the eyes of the world, and so it was a great privilege to be able to share prayers from this place, where the heart of Christ beats strongly, with our listeners in their cars, homes, and places of work. Too much media goes looking for darkness, I’m much more interested in letting the light shine out. I thank the Sisters, the residents, and all the staff for inviting us into their home and allowing us to share the light.’
The event highlighted the vital role of spiritual care in the life of the residents. It also underscored the mission of the Sisters of Nazareth, a religious congregation dedicated to the care of the elderly and vulnerable. Founded in 1851, the Sisters of Nazareth have been serving communities worldwide through their commitment to providing compassionate care, inspired by the love of Christ.
Sister Celine-Marie Donnelly CSN, Mother Superior of the Sisters of Nazareth in Hammersmith, said:
‘What a wonderful experience for our staff, residents, and sisters at Nazareth House Hammersmith. I would personally like to thank Father Toby and Helena for taking the time out of their busy schedules to join us for the Rosary. It was truly a very spiritual experience, and to think that we were joined by so many people across the UK is incredible. What a blessing this brings to us all. God bless you all at Radio Maria for all you do in sharing our faith!’
Listeners from across the country were able to join the residents in prayer through the live broadcast, uniting hearts in devotion to the Blessed Mother. This special Rosary exemplified Radio Maria’s mission to bring faith-filled programming into the lives of its audience, wherever they may be.
