On the afternoon of 5th July, Cardinal Vincent celebrated a Mass at St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School, Mill Hill in commemoration of 120 years of Catholic education begun by the Daughters of Charity with their vision of an inclusive education for all. Mass was held in the open air with over 400 people in attendance, including past and present pupils and parents, who were welcomed by staff and governors. Mass was concelebrated by Fr Michael McCullagh (Parish Priest), Fr Nobert Fernandes (ex-student), Fr Robert Pachuta, Fr Ray Armstrong, and Fr Eamon Rafferty.
After Mass, the Cardinal blessed the new prayer garden which had been designed by the pupils as part of a Design and Technology project, with the help of their teachers who guided them in their research. It was the students’ way of expressing the 120 years of faith journey that the school has made. The prayer garden provides a quiet place to rest, pray and reflect on thoughts and actions that might make a difference to the world we share as stewards of our environment.
