On Wednesday 20 January, the Choir of St Paul’s Cathedral visited Westminster Cathedral to sing Evensong as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. In attendance was Canon Michael Hampel, Precentor of St Paul’s Cathedral, who gave the address, and the Very Reverend Dr David Ison, Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral.
The service of Evensong is part of the Anglican Church’s continuous worship, and is said or sung in churches and cathedrals every evening throughout the year. The roots of the service lie in the pattern of Monastic worship, which was developed as the Christian faith spread.
Westminster Cathedral Choir will sing Solemn Vespers at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday at 5pm.
