On 13 April, Palm Sunday, Archbishop Justin Welby gave the closing reflection for the week of prayer for the work of the churches and volunteers in their service to the poor.
In his reflection Archbishop Welby talks about Jesus washing the feet of the disciples, an act they would have considered intensely demeaning for Him to do. This passage tells us that, as Christians, we should be confident of God's love for us and are called to love others as completely as we can, just as Jesus did.
The joint initiative, Listen to God: Hear the Poor, between Cardinal Vincent Nichols and Archbishop Justin Welby has also involved visits to the Catholic Worker community at Giuseppe Conlon House in north London and the Rainbow Centre in Folkestone, Kent.
