Pilgrimage to Fatima in the Centenary Year of the Apparitions
HE Cardinal Vincent Nichols led the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Fatima last week from Monday 24th to Thursday 27th April 2017.
As a prelude to the Papal Visit for the commemoration of events on 13th May 1917, when Our Lady made her first appearance to the three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta in the remote Portuguese village of Fatima, 140 Westminster pilgrims and clergy made an early Monday morning start from London Heathrow.
The programme included the Cardinal's concelebration of Mass at the Cathedral of St Anthony, Morning Prayer in the Hotel Steyler Chapel, walking the Stations of the Cross and opportunities to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation in a continued personal mission of prayer and penance. The final Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Eucharistic Miracle and followed by a truly devotional Veneration of the Blessed Sacrament, led by Fr Chris Vipers, Fatima Pilgrimage Director.
Book now for this year's Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes is from Sunday 23rd July to Saturday 29th July 2017. The theme of this year's pilgrimage is 'The Lord has done great things for me'.
Contact your parish priest, especially if a parish group booking is being organised for this pilgrimage.
Brochures and booking forms listing a range of prices which vary depending on choice of travel and accommodation, are available from the Pilgrimage Office, Vaughan House, 46 Francis Street, London SW1P 1QN or Tangney Tours online: http://www.tangney-tours.com/pilgrimages/lourdes/westminster
You can also call 0207 798 9173 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Pilgrims who opt to travel independently are asked to make a suggested payment of £30 or more towards Westminster Diocesan Pilgrimage Levy. This is an essential contribution towards the costs of taking our sick pilgrims, the provision of a pilgrimage handbook and badge, and the Lourdes Sanctuary Pilgrim Levy, and validates participation in all events.
Accueil Marie Saint Frai Pilgrims: Important notice
Pilgrims who require special assistance and wish to book their travel and accommodation to stay in the Accueil St Frai must submit their booking forms as soon as possible so that the Westminster Lourdes Medical Team can co-ordinate appropriate levels of medical support and care throughout the pilgrimage.
The Pilgrimage Doctor and Medical Team intend to carry out assessment of Westminster assisted pilgrims before the date of the pilgrimage.
Did you know...?
Opportunities exist for the sponsorship and nomination of a sick, elderly or disabled parishioner who you or your parish would like to assist with participation in the Westminster Diocesan Lourdes pilgrimage. Fundraising is wholly encouraged for these pilgrims and their helpers to take part.
Please advise the Pilgrimage Office if this is something which you or your parish intend to do to offer support to the charity.
Called to Serve the Sick
Can you help? We are looking to recruit volunteers to lend medical and/or practical support for our Lourdes Pilgrimage this summer.
If you, or someone you know might be able to assist, please contact the Pilgrimage Office at Vaughan House on 0207 798 9173 or email Lourdes@rcdow.org.uk
All volunteers must possess a DBS (formerly CRB) clearance certificate from the Diocese of Westminster and undergo specific training in order to be part of the Lourdes volunteer workforce.
Do please consider the role you may play in being a helper, as it is a great opportunity to build on the wonderful experiences and many works undertaken in Lourdes during the Year of Mercy and for you to be one of many Called to Serve the Sick.
Help raise funds for Lourdes helpers this year
If you are unable to give practical help, please do consider offering a donation on the Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/westminsterdiocese/medicalteam
Thank you for your generosity.
