Pilgrimages in the Year of Mercy

'Going on pilgrimage means being ready to leave in order to find... A pilgrim sets out looking for treasure, asking for a gift.'

- Cardinal Vincent (A Pilgrimage Companion for the Year of Mercy)

In theJubilee Year of Mercy, we were invited to make a pilgrimage, whether to visit a local Holy Door or further afield. In addition to the Holy Doors in the diocese, there were several pilgrimages on offer this year, some which are well-established and much-loved like the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, and others which are more recent, such as the pilgrimage to Walsingham and another to St Albans. In addition, this year saw the World Youth Day pilgrimage to Krakow. Be sure to visit the Westminster Youth Ministry website for the World Youth Day pilgrimage blog from 18 to 31 July.

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to St Albans took place on 8 October. Further information is found here.

The Sixth Annual Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, led by Cardinal Vincent, took place from 4 to 12 November. To see Flickr album pictures of this pilgrimage, click here.
