Cardinal takes part in Synod Press Conference in Rome

On 7 October Cardinal Vincent took part in the Vatican’s daily press conference to discuss the proceedings of the Extraordinary Synod on the family which is taking place from the 6-19 October in Rome. The Cardinal answered questions from the English speaking journalists at the Vatican’s Press Office near St Peter’s Square.

Also present at the press conference table were Fr Frederico Lombardi, the director of the Holy See Press Office who spoke in Italian, Fr Manuel Dorantes, Assistant to Fr Lombardi, who spoke in Spanish and Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rah, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, who spoke in French.

Cardinal Vincent begins answering questions 40 minutes into the press conference after briefings of the day’s events. He described the spirit in the Synod hall so far as ‘lovely, with an occasional sense of fun and a lightness of atmosphere which is enabling the bishops to speak from pastoral experience’. He concluded: ‘It is lovely to be here and to be walking together’.
