At the end of a hot sunny day in St Peter’s Square which saw the Mass for the Beatification of Blessed Paul VI, Cardinal Vincent gave a unique insight into the Extraordinary Synod on the Family which had ended the previous night, Saturday 18 October.

The Cardinal described a ‘vigorous synod’ with a ‘dramatic ending’ after the production of the final document and the voting process on whether to accept all 60 of its paragraphs.

He went on to praise Pope Francis for saying that he will make whole document public, even the paragraphs which did not secure a two-thirds majority, so that everyone can see where the Church is at the end of the Synod.

Continuing his praise for the Holy Father, The Cardinal described the Pope’s speech at end of the Synod as ‘remarkable’ and saying it was ‘worth being in Rome for 2 weeks just for that speech’.
