On 8 December at 5pm Year 10 Bishop Douglass students welcomed over 130 Senior Citizens form the local East Finchley community into the school hall for a traditional Christmas dinner and an evening of entertainment. It has been a long-standing tradition within the school that students in year 10 fundraise throughout the autumn term to provide a party to remember for some of the most important members of our local community. This year the students excelled in their efforts and raised an excellent amount of ยฃ1300 to ensure the event was a huge success!
The hall was festooned with Christmas decorations and festive music and subtle lighting that helped to create a party atmosphere. Glasses of juice and sherry were accompanied by live musical performances before a three course turkey dinner was served. Conversations flowed and laughter rang through the hall as evidence of the success of the evening. The evening did not end with the meal; in keeping with tradition, all played bingo before Santa and his โelvesโ arrived with a special gift for our guests. At the end, a delighted and sated group of guests left Bishop Douglass vowing to return again next year for more of the same!
