On 8 December at 5pm Year 10 Bishop Douglass students welcomed over 130 Senior Citizens form the local East Finchley community into the school hall for a traditional Christmas dinner and an evening of entertainment. It has been a long-standing tradition within the school that students in year 10 fundraise throughout the autumn term to provide a party to remember for some of the most important members of our local community. This year the students excelled in their efforts and raised an excellent amount of £1300 to ensure the event was a huge success!

The hall was festooned with Christmas decorations and festive music and subtle lighting that helped to create a party atmosphere. Glasses of juice and sherry were accompanied by live musical performances before a three course turkey dinner was served. Conversations flowed and laughter rang through the hall as evidence of the success of the evening. The evening did not end with the meal; in keeping with tradition, all played bingo before Santa and his ‘elves’ arrived with a special gift for our guests. At the end, a delighted and sated group of guests left Bishop Douglass vowing to return again next year for more of the same!
