Lourdes Pilgrimage 2026 | Day four

Time to Read:

1–2 minutes

Today, our pilgrims began the day with another beautiful Mass, this time in a more intimate setting, celebrated by Archbishop Richard Moth. Over 15 priest joined him for the Anointing of the Sick in the Basilica of St. Pius X. It was a moving celebration and a privilege to witness for our Pilgrims.

Afterwards, it was time for our annual group photo. With more than 700 pilgrims gathered together, it was a wonderful moment that brought smiles to everyone’s faces and beautifully reflected the spirit of our diocesan pilgrimage.

As the sun set over Lourdes, the Diocese of Westminster had the honour of leading the Marian Torchlight Procession. The square in front of the basilica was illuminated by thousands of candles as pilgrims prayed and sang in honour of Our Lady. During the procession, our pilgrims’ written prayer intentions were collected and presented by Archbishop Richard Moth to Our Lady of Lourdes, entrusting all our hopes, prayers, and intentions to her loving intercession.

To conclude this beautiful evening, our Redcaps were invited into the basilica, where they received a special blessing from Archbishop Richard Moth, in the room where the statue of the Virgin Mary sits.
