In preparation for Childrenโ€™s Mental Health Week (5โ€“11 February), St Anthonyโ€™s School for Girls participated in a series of โ€˜healthy practice activities for bodies and mindsโ€™ as part of its annual Health and Wellbeing Week.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€˜Being Ourselvesโ€™, encouraged the pupils to think positively about themselves. Reception and KS1 pupils benefitted from classes on โ€˜positive self-talkโ€™, and KS2 on developing the strategies to climb yourself out of the โ€˜Learning Pitโ€™ when faced with challenging tasks.

Further time in the workshops was dedicated to practising mindfulness; younger pupils in the school learnt relaxing stretches, whilst the older girls participated in a short exercise involving moving while blindfolded to explore the concept of being only in the moment.

Headteacher Lara Flannery commented: โ€˜At St Anthonyโ€™s School for Girls we are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment, helping our pupils to thrive academically whilst also focusing on their pastoral needs.

โ€˜Health and Wellbeing Week aims to promote lifelong habits to provide the girls with the tools to have success and happiness, and to prepare them for future careers and challenges.โ€™
