This evening, with this Maundy Mass, we begin our intense celebration of the Easter mystery. In many ways these three days are one celebration, starting this evening and continuing tomorrow in our afternoon liturgy and coming to its climax at the Easter Vigil and Easter Morning Mass. This is one feast, one great drama of the mystery of our salvation.
Today, in our meeting, we have been reflecting upon the journey of faith, the journey we all make towards maturity in faith and in life. This journey, we know, is made up of many steps and has both its human and spiritual dimensions.
Today's Mass is such an important event. And it is a joyful, blessed and amazing even.
On this feast of the Ascension of the Lord, we take a further major step in our celebration of the Paschal Mystery, the exploration of our Easter faith. I am delighted to be celebrating this great Feast here in the Church of Our Lady of the Ass...
