On Wednesday 15th August, CAFOD organised a shoe art installation outside Westminster Cathedral as part of the Caritas International Share the Journey campaign.
Over 40,000 CAFOD supporters have been inspired by Pope Francis’ message to welcome the stranger. In solidarity with people on the move, they have walked nearly 100,000 miles.
Some of the shoes places outside the Cathedral were from refugees alongside shoes from Catholics in England and Wales who have walked as part of the campaign.
CAFOD is urging World leaders and Governments to take positive action to address the rights of refugees and migrants through the United Nations Global Compacts to be agreed this year. We want to ensure that the compacts:
- respect human dignity
- protect the vulnerable
- support host countries
- keep families together
- tackle the reasons why people migrate.
