St Benedict’s School, Ealing, hosted over 60 children from 10 different west London primary and prep schools for a day of sport at their fields in Perivale on May 23rd.
The day provided an opportunity for children who enjoy sport to come together, develop their skills and generally have a lot of fun as well as the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of professional sports coaches.
Everyone took part with great enthusiasm and commitment, improving their skills in rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, fencing, athletics and team work. Sports coaches and teachers from St Benedict’s ran a challenging range of different activities at the school’s expansive playing fields at Perivale. These included relay races, bowling, batting and fielding skills, jumping, netball shooting and an introduction to fencing. Participating children also had the opportunity to develop their problem solving skills and team building and to meet children from other schools who enjoy sport.
Andrew Johnson, Headmaster of St Benedict’s, said: “This day was a brilliant celebration of sport, allowing local children to discover new talents, develop skills and make new friends.”
The participating schools were St Vincent's; St Gregory's; St Mary's; Montpelier; Ravenscourt Park Prep; Our Lady of the Visitation; Mount Carmel; Bassett House; The Good Shepherd and St Benedict's Junior School.
