Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor last night delivered, in support of PACT, the annual Sir Harold Hood memorial lecture hosted by at Allen Hall seminary in Chelsea. In his address the Cardinal spoke of the importance of treating prisoners with greater kindness and respect so as to encourage an impetus to change their lives, he also discussed the interrelated nature of social problems and criminal acts.

Cardinal Cormac ended his address by speaking of the great value ‘Basic Caring Communities’, an initiative of PACT to target the crucial few months following a prisoners release from prison, offering both an excellent way to reduce reoffending and fulfilling Christ’s call of “Whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me”.
