“The mission of Caritas Westminster is to encourage everyone in the Catholic community to reach out with practical help towards those in need. We are here to serve the good of all, especially the most vulnerable.” Cardinal Vincent Nichols

As Pope Francis keeps reminding us, it is so important to give a voice to the voiceless. Our Diocese is taking a lead on this. Hundreds of initiatives are already well established, such as homeless shelters, soup runs and projects aimed at visiting the elderly at parish and Diocesan level. But there is still much more that needs to be done.

Caritas Westminster has identified seven strategic priorities:

  • Food Poverty and Debt
  • Social isolation of the most vulnerable
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Homelessness
  • Human Trafficking
  • Youth at risk
  • Deaf Service

Through encouraging and extending the work already being done in our parishes, working with existing charities and organisations and leveraging existing resources, Caritas Westminster aims to encourage Catholics and Catholic communities to respond to the need in the world around them and to work with others to create a more just society.

Growing in Faith will ensure we have the financial capacity to support these areas of need.
