On 13 March this year, Pope Francis announced the celebration of an Extraordinary Holy Year. This will be a Jubilee Year of Mercy which will begin on 8 December 2015 with the opening of the Holy Door in St Peter’s Basilica, Rome, on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
