By Kathleen Dimaculangan, participant of the Rise Up program in 2021

Through the Rise Up program, I have built lasting friendships in Christ who continue to inspire me, especially on days that I lose sight of the reason why I am doing this mission. This program has supported me in becoming a courageous youth leader and learning to trust and have faith in our God.

The challenges that I usually face when leading and evangelising have become lighter through the practical principles or skills such as using the Reframing Method that this program has taught us. This includes the impact of storytelling and becoming vulnerable to other youths, creating relationships and connections with them. This therefore further improved my communication skills with non-believers and in evangelising them.

Having done this program has encouraged me to do a mission in the US this coming summer. I applied to a program called Camp America to become a Camp Counsellor of a Christian youth camp. I got the job by God’s grace, and I am now waiting to process my working visa. I am looking forward and excited for more opportunities that this program will lead me to.

Rise Up is a project of the Diocese of Westminster Youth Ministry to train, equip, and inspire young people in their leadership skills and faith formation, developed by Catholic Voices with the support of the Cardinal's Appeal.
