We have arrived in Jerusalem! After a very early start for many pilgrims we left London Heathrow airport at about 8.30am on Wednesday 7 November.
After a four and a half hour flight, a couple of lost, but now recovered bags, and a coach journey we arrived at our hotels at about 7pm local time.
On our pilgrimage there are just over 100 pilgrims including Archbishop Vincent Nichols, some Chaplains, a few Religious sisters and lots of people from the Diocese of Westminster, and indeed beyond.
On the coach journey from Tel Aviv airport, scripture scholar and one of our Chaplains, Fr John Hemer MHM prayed some psalms as our coaches ascended up to Jerusalem. This is traditionally done by pilgrims making their way to the Holy City and has given our pilgrimage a special start.
Tomorrow (Thursday) we begin the day with a visit to the Holy Sepulchre so stay tuned for pictures and details of the morning. It's an early start with breakfast at 7.30am and we will be on the road by 8.45am.
For now I think many of our pilgrims are heading to bed in preparation for the first full day in Jersualem tomorrow.
