Below is the foreword from the Pilgrim's booklet written by Archbishop Vincent Nichols
Dear Fellow Pilgrims,
As we make our pilgrimage to the Holy Land we do so at the beginning of the Year of Faith. We are responding to the Holy Father’s invitation to visit the Holy Land and rediscover there the Author of our faith, Jesus Christ. As we follow in His footsteps and visit many of the places he visited, I pray that our faith will come alive and our love for Christ will be deepened.
We do not make our pilgrimage on our own. We join that long line of pilgrims from all faiths who have gone before us in search of the Living God and we bring with us the prayers and needs of our diocesan family. We are a pilgrim church and, in an important way, our pilgrimage will awaken our sense of belonging to the Community of the Church in our diocese and across the world.
During our pilgrimage we will be welcomed by the Christian Communities of the Holy Land who are the Living Stones of our Faith and through our shared prayer and friendship we will be able to put our faith into action.
I pray that each one of us pilgrims will grow in faith, hope and love for the Lord who journeys with us. And as we return to the diocese, may we be ready and willing to spread the Gospel and share our experience of the Holy Land with those we meet.
