In this Jubilee Year, we are all called to be Pilgrims of Hope, rediscovering and reigniting the hope that anchors our lives and points us towards the glory that awaits us in Heaven.
There are few places on Earth where this hope is more tangible than here in Lourdes. It is a place where the impossible becomes possible, where miracles occur. Just a few months ago, we witnessed the formal recognition of the miraculous cure of Jack Traynor from Liverpool. yet another testament to the grace that flows through this sacred place.
Today, that sense of hope was evident as Westminster’s group of pilgrims arrived in number by air, rail, and road. Smiles, relief, and quiet anticipation could be seen in every greeting and embrace.
Those who arrived early gathered for an afternoon Mass in St Joseph’s Chapel. In his homily Canon Chris Vipers spoke of this call to hope. 'Hope listens, hope learns, hope appreciates.'
As evening settles over Lourdes, pilgrims are sharing dinner, exploring the town, and preparing their hearts for the spiritual journey ahead over these next seven days, a journey rooted in prayer, service, healing, and above all, hope.
