Today marks the final day of our pilgrimage to Lourdes. The day began with a closing Mass celebrated at the grotto with Cardinal Vincent. 'God’s greatness flowers best through our lowliness, our humility and our weakness; strength lies in God who does great things for us,' he explained in his homily.

After Mass as is the annual tradition, the diocesan candle and along with it there were two more candles: one in honour of our Lady of Willesden and the other for the victims of Grenfell tower. As the Cardinal mentions in his video message today, 'the lighting of a candle prolongs our prayer'.

In the afternoon, the Stations of the Cross were prayed on the upper hill. The climb to the mountain through its rocky road closely reminded us of the agony that Jesus experienced on the road to Calvary. These stations were a reminder of God’s infinite love for us and that through his death he has given us life, life in abundance.

In today's video message, Cardinal Vincent explains how Mary speaks to us in our everyday life to bring us closer to her Son and him to us.
