The inevitable final full day (for most pilgrims). We all gathered in the Basilica of St Bernadette across the Gave from the Grotto where we had met for the first time at the beginning of the week. The Red Caps carried in an enormous canvas which has all their names on and which would have the names of all Red Caps in the coming years. Archbishop Vincent celebrated the Mass and here is his homily:
At the end there were many thank yous – the choir, the Red Caps, the priests…. All those who put so much energy into this amazing Pilgrimage. The Diocesan Candle was blessed.
The afternoon was a final visit to the Grotto and lighting of the candle.
A joyful time.
