The Society of St Vincent de Paul at St Benedict’s School, Ealing, staged their annual Christmas Party for Senior Citizens on Wednesday 9 December in the Cloisters Hall. Headmaster, Mr Cleugh said: 'It was a wonderful occasion which allowed our senior students to demonstrate how we live our Benedictine mission, focusing especially on Service and Hospitality. They provided service with a smile and brought a little festive joy to many of our older local residents.'
Matthew Carr set the tone at the start on piano, and then Finn and Rory Hobson, Nicholas Krol and Sam Lubkowski got things moving with ‘Jingle Bell Rock'. More vocals from Theo Byrne led to the all-important Bingo sessions, presided over by Chris Cleugh, Headmaster. Natasha Potts and Conor O’Hara entertained on guitar and flute respectively, and the instrumental performances were completed by Rory Hobson, Sam Loveless and Oscar Simons on brass. The afternoon was rounded off with all the guests joining an impromptu student and staff choir in a jolly carol sing-a-long. Refreshments were served throughout by the student team and Father Christmas (Head Boy Francis Curran) was much in evidence, with a ‘yo-ho-ho’ at appropriate times to liven up the proceedings.
As one of the carers remarked, the guests very much look forward to this event and some have been coming for many years. She mentioned a group of five at her table, all ninety plus, who were having a great time. We wish them many more happy years to come.
