On Tuesday 13th December, Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary School in Paddington celebrated its 150th anniversary, with Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Cardinal Vincent, along with Parish Priest Fr Michael Jarmulowicz and Fr Alexander Master, offered Mass to mark this milestone with pupils, teachers and staff. Mass was followed by a tour of the school.
The school prides itself on taking the pupil voice very seriously. There are pupil representatives across the school whose role it is to support the everyday life of the school, ensuring that all are safe and valued as individuals.
Of these, the most senior are the School Council, Mayor and Deputy Mayors, who are democratically elected. Every autumn, a whole-school election is held for Mayor and three Deputy Mayors from among Year 6 pupils, who are expected to be role models for the entire school.
At the end of the Cardinal’s visit, the Mayor and Deputy Mayors posed for a photo with the Cardinal, Headteacher Sarah Alley, and Fr Michael Jarmulowicz.
