Commissioned (or extraordinary) ministers have an important role in most parishes and communities of the Diocese.

  • They assist with the timely and reverent distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during the celebration of Mass, when there are not sufficient ordained ministers present.
  • They assist the ordained ministers in ensuring that Holy Communion can be taken to the sick and housebound, to the dying.

The documents on this page can be used in preparing ministers, or in days of recollection for existing ministers.
