As we enjoy this wonderful carol service of such beautiful words and music, my mind goes back to November when 100 people from the Diocese went on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
Tonight we proclaim with joy the birth of Jesus, Saviour of the world. We do so in many ways.
As we listened this afternoon to this beautiful proclamation of the Passion according to St John, a scene from the recent film of the passion came to my mind. It was a moment during the journey to Calvary, when Jesus, fallen to the ground under the weight of the cross, looks up and sees his Mother there before him. Their eyes meet, and he says to hers: 'See, I am making all things new!'
A Vigil of Prayer took place at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, on Friday 8 to Saturday 9 June 2012. Throughout the night there was music, drama, silent reflection and vocal prayer. The Vigil marked the beginning of the traditional sacred truce for 100 days of peace in London falling over the period surrounding the Olympic Games.
