There are a variety of events running throughout the Scripture Festival, here is a timetable of what’s on offer. All events are free but would encourage you to book to avoid disappointment. 

Scripture Circles

Different organisations are leading a group of people in prayerful or thought provoking reflections on the Word of God in our Scripture Circles.

Workshops and Author's Corners 

Scripture can console, shape and invigorate our lives if we are open to the God Who Speaks. Our Workshops and Author's Corners provide participants with the opportunity to infuse their lives with the Word of God. Whether you need to know where to start or want to go deeper there is something for you.

Thursday

2:10pm My Soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord

When Mary recognised her calling, she declare a song that many know as the Magnificat. Join Teams of Our Lady to explore God's call on your life and find your song of joy. 

Friday

1:10pm Adoption and the Bible

Nigel Langford, Director of Domestic Mission at Bible Society, shares why he decided to adopt a child and the journey he travelled in making a new family. Nigel reflects on the significance of adoption in the Scriptures and what it invites us all to do in our wider relationships.

2:45pm Navigating Trauma 

Nigel Langford, Director of Domestic Mission at Bible Society, presents a new Bible-based initiative that uses the Scriptures to accompany participants in their journey through the effects of trauma towards a place of peace. It's designed to help churches, faith groups and chaplains support their communities through the impact of trauma.

3:00pm Open the Book for school chaplains and RE staff

Open The Book equips volunteers to bring the Bible to life for primary schools. Whether wanting to know how to involve your parents in primary school assemblies or to enable secondary school students to deliver lively and engaging assemblies to their feeder schools, come along to find out how Open the Book can help your school.

Featured Events

There are so many great things happening throughout the Scripture Festival. Here are just a few highlights for you to consider.

Morning Prayer led by the Weave of Manquehue Prayer

10:00am Saturday 5th February

Start your Saturday by praying Morning Prayer of the Office in the beautiful setting of St Albans Cathedral with the Weave of Manquehue Prayer. There is no need to book, just turn up and join in.

Behold the Word Mime Performance

11:00am Saturday 5th February

Michelle Moran and Abbot Christopher Jamison will host this exhilarating performance of the Good News by Steve Murray-Hanson from Behold Ministry. We hope pilgrims of all ages will be moved by the deep messages held in the Bible stories and themes brought revealed through mime put to music. This is an ideal event to bring friends and family who are not familiar with church. All are welcome.

Finding Happiness Author's Corner with Abbot Christopher Jamison

2:00pm Saturday 5th February

Is it really possible to find a deep and lasting happiness in such difficult times? Abbot Christopher Jamison will read from his new edition of Finding Happiness to explore the answer to this question, after which there will be an opportunity for comments and questions.
