THE GOD WHO SPEAKS – SUNDAY MEDITATIONS
04/10 27th OT-A Matt 21:33-43
This is the third parable in which the vineyard is mentioned. As the first reading reveals we are the vineyard of the Lord. He puts us in charge of his vineyard, that is, sends us to look after the community for the good of all. We, like the people of the parable, want to give up the tenancy and become the owners at any cost, even damaging those who are above us
Consider the way you treat those who are above you at work or at home. You might consider a change of attitude or amendment of your behaviour.
11/10 28th OT-A Matt 22:1-14
“Blessed are those invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb” (Rev 19:9). The Bible describes heaven as a wedding. Jesus is the groom, who loves us and makes us ready for that feast day through our lives. We are invited to get ready so that, ultimately, we can accept that invitation and thus enter the feast of heaven.
Some of those invited has excuses to avoid going to the wedding. Many a times we also have excuses not to spend time with the Lord. Think of the excuses you make and perhaps try to give them up.
18/10 29th OT-A Matt 22:15-21
Right from the beginning coins carry an image representing the ruler who order them to be minted. This image refers to the ruler. When the Pharisees present the coin to Jesus to trap him, Jesus tricks them instead. In a veil manner, he refers to the book of Genesis. Each of us was made to carry the image of God in us and to give him back what is his due. Praise and thanksgiving belong to him.
A way of giving back to God our life is by praising him. Perhaps, set aside some time to thank God for the things he has given to you
25/10 30th OT-A Matt 22:34-40
At times we are not sure how could we show our love for God and for our neighbour. As we know, these two commandments are the summary of the Ten Commandments. So if we want to love God we can look at the three first commandments. If we want to love our neighbour, we should read the other seven. Do this and you shall live!
God of love who commands us to follow in your footsteps so that we may experience life; teach me to love you and serve my brothers and sisters.
