Welcome to the website of our Diocesan Parish Catechetical Support Team. Here you will find information about the opportunities for catechetical formation offered by the Diocese as it strives to respond to the spiritual, pastoral, educational and catechetical needs of the people of Westminster.

Maryvale Certificate Courses

'Learn from Me' - Formation Programme 
Introducing a new and exciting Formation Programme, for all involved in parish ministry, and for all who desire to go deeper into their faith and understanding. 

Developed in partnership with the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham, the ‘Learn From Me’ formation programme includes: 

Certificate in Catechesis (Maryvale Institute)

This two-year part-time distance learning course, which includes Study Days with tutors from Maryvale Institute at Vaughan House, as well as the pastoral support of the Catechesis Advisers at the Agency for Evangelisation, is designed for parish catechists, employed or volunteer, and for those considering this ministry. 
Cost: £ 675 per year and £25 registration fee. 

Certificate in Parish Mission and Ministry (Maryvale Institute)
This one-year part-time distance learning course, which includes Study Days with tutors from Maryvale Institute at Vaughan House, as well as the pastoral support of the Agency for Evangelisation team, is designed for those involved in parish and liturgical ministries, including members of Evangelisation Teams and Pastoral Councils. 
Cost: £ 675 and £25 registration fee 

A Catechesis on Marriage and Family (Maryvale Institute)
This six-month part-time Catechesis, including Study Days with tutors from Maryvale Institute at Vaughan House, as well as the pastoral support of the Marriage and Family Life team at the Agency for Evangelisation, is designed for those involved in the ministry of Marriage Preparation and for anyone with a desire to understand more of the Church’s beautiful teaching on marriage and the family. 
Cost. £ 455 and £25 registration fee. 

Applications are welcome from self-funders or with parish support. 
A reference from the Parish Priest will be requested for all applicants.

Thursday 31st January 2019 
Vaughan House, 46 Francis Street, SW1W 1QN, 7.30-9.00pm (This Information Evening will be the only one at which  Maryvale Institute - A Catechesis on Marriage and Family will be presented along with the other two courses.) 


Launch and Study Day: 
The Formation Programme will be launched on Saturday 9th March 2019, commencing at 9:00am with a Mass in Westminster Cathedral Crypt at 11.00am celebrated by Bishop Nicholas Hudson. At this Mass the participants on each course will be blessed and commissioned. You would be very welcome to join them for this important moment. Mass will be followed by lunch and the first Study Day.
