The central message that Jesus preached is the Kingdom of God. The roots of his teaching are found in the Hebrew Scriptures. This course will explore these roots: what would life be like if humanity followed God’s plans?
To fulfill the ‘plans of his heart’, God guided the People of Israel though the Prophets, teaching His People how to live out these plans. Their story is one of both faithfulness and unfaithfulness.
Never in the history of the world has the need for this teaching been as pressing as it is today. Assisted by the unprecedented technological progress of our age, humanity has become ‘better’ at hurting and killing one another and destroying our beautiful earth than at any other time in human history.

    Venue:Vaughan House, 46 Francis Street, SW1P 1QN

Title: Scripture Retreat with Sr Anne Walsh OP and Sister Karen Marguerite d’Artois OP for liturgical ministers and everyone interested

The Word of God lies at the centre of our life of faith: it is through hearing, savouring and reflecting on God’s word spoken to us through the Scriptures that we come to know the Lord, and know His will for each of us as a beloved son or daughter. Throughout the ages, the Magisterium has taught about the importance of the Scriptures as the source of our theology and fundamentally of our relationship with God.

In this day of reflection, we will look at some of the teachings of the Church on the Scriptures, from the highest level of Authority in the Second Vatican Council, through the teachings of our Holy Fathers, and our Bishops. We will spend time reflecting on the Word of God and what it means to put this at the centre of our lives.

    When: Saturday 7th December 2019, 10.00am – 3.00pm

Where: Vaughan House, 46 Francis Street, SW1P 1QN
