Individual support to parishes

Building up a parish team to establish Adult Faith Formation

More recently the Agency for Evangelisation has been working on a programme, to be offered to individual parishes, the aim of which would be:

  • to establish a two or three year plan for adult faith formation in the parish
  • to form a group of parishioners who will implement this
  • to assist the group with its earliest initiatives and provide ongoing support

The central aim of this programme is to assist the parish priest and parish team in building up the profile of adult faith formation within the parish, but we believe the promotion of adult formation will have other benefits. In particular, in helping people towards a more confident understanding of their faith, we hope it would make them better evangelists and encourage them to take a greater part in parish life, offering themselves, for example, as potential catechists and leaders in the parish.

If your parish would be interested in this programme or would like to receive individual support, please contact Ausra Karaliute at or Fr Dominic Robinson SJ at to discuss the details.

Adult Formation Summary

Pope John Paul II wrote that the 'formation and enrichment' of all members of the Church will enable 'the proclamation of Christ to reach people, mould communities, and have a deep and incisive influence in bringing Gospel values to bear in society and culture.'
