Retail and Procurement Manager Westminster Cathedral

Westminster Cathedral is the seat of the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster and the Mother Church for Roman Catholics in England and Wales.  For over a hundred years, countless Christians and visitors of every faith and none have crossed the threshold of this holy place.  The cathedral is also a vibrant parish church where the community is always being built and extended; a living house of prayer where Holy Mass is offered over forty times every week and the Sacrament of Reconciliation is available for six hours each day.

A unique and exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Retail and Procurement Manager. In this pivotal role, s/he will be ultimately responsible for optimising profitability and accountability for 3 key commercial activities within Westminster Cathedral, namely:

1.    Retail -to manage and develop the Gift shop, to generate profitable long term revenue streams for the Cathedral.  In addition, to take responsibility for the sales of tickets to concerts and comparable events run by the Cathedral. 

2.  Procurement –to assume responsibility for all purchasing in the Cathedral by developing the systems and processes to optimise efficiency and effectiveness whilst delivering best ‘value for money’. Ensuring the Cathedral obtains quality products for competitive prices in a timely fashion.

3.   Visitor attractions – to devise and implement plans for increasing the number of visitors to the Cathedral Viewing Tower and Exhibition and to manage these attractions.

This role will suit a confident creative individual with strong leadership skills and a background in operational retail and/or commercial management as well as solid communication organisational and co-ordination skills.

Hours of work:  5 days per week,35 hours per week (on a rota basis, including evenings and weekends) Salary: £35,000 per annum Closing date: 9 September 2018
