Some events to think about
The Year of Faith in parishes
While the Diocesan agencies and departments are producing resources to help parishes, the individual activities that parishes will adopt may vary. All however are asked to preach on the named Sunday’s highlighted, on the topics indicated above.
A quarterly booklet will be produced by the Agency for Evangelisation for all parish priests, administrators and catechist’s called ‘The Follower’ to help them prepare for and celebrate the Year of Faith. The first booklet to cover the season from October to Christmas 2012 can be downloaded from here. The version for priests will contain sample homilies that may be used or adapted for use in their parish on the highlighted Sundays 'The Follower' also contains materials and ideas for schools.
All Bishops will give Catechesis at a parish in the Diocese of Westminster. The day is aimed at parish catechists but all are encouraged to attend. The dates and places are:

Adult Faith Formation
Faith Matters talks for the Year of Faith: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God: Catholic moral & social teaching
This series is the third of four dedicated to the Year of Faith and focusses on Part III of the Catechism of the Catholic Church - 'Life in Christ'.

Archbishop Nichols will lead the opening session of ‘You Believe’, a monthly celebration of faith, catechesis, prayer and worship. The session will be celebrated at St Aloysius Church on Tuesday 6 November 2012 at 7pm. The Archbishop will give a catechesis on faith and belief in the world today.
The event is open to all students of sixth form age, and young adults. The event will also mark the beginning of the work of the new Centre for Youth Ministry.
Marriage and family life
The department for Marriage and family life will run a number of events to support married couples and their families.
Dr Gerard O’Shea from the John Paul II Institute in Melbourne will be talking about his book ‘As I have Loved You’ which supports parents in passing on the faith at St Patrick’s Church in Soho on Saturday 10 November 2012 1.30-3.30pm. The ‘Celebrate Love’ marriage enrichment weekend will now be known as Smart Loving and is a two day non-residential marriage enrichment seminar based on insights from the Theology of the Body, suitable for all ages and stages of marriage. The weekend will run from 24-25 November 2012 at St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre in Hendon. The Year of Faith in schools
All schools are asked to mirror the structure that parishes will adopt and to adapt materials for use in schools. Versions of the homilies to be preached have been specially written for use in schools to enable the whole Catholic community in Westminster participate in the themes.
The Continuous Professional Development courses offered by the Diocesan Education Service to all governors, teachers, head teachers and chaplains also focus on the Year of Faith. A copy of the booklet can be downloaded here
The Year of Faith for individuals
Parishioners are encouraged to make use of a number of Diocesan resources that have been produced.
In collaboration with the Home Mission Desk at the Bishops’ Conference, the Agency for Evangelisation has also produced a booklet called Radiating Christ for groups and families to share their faith and reflect on scripture. Over the course of six sessions participants will explore the nature of faith, the person of Jesus, the gift of the Body of Christ and the essential mission of the Church- to spread the Good news. Mirroring the themes that the diocese has adopted for the Year of Faith, further faith-sharing resources for small groups will be produced on Reconciliation and Prayer for Lent 2013 and autumn 2013 respectively.
A prayer has been written and will be distributed to all parishes to mark the start of the Year of Faith. The prayer reads:
Let me see your face,
Know your heart
and experience your love in my life.
Strengthen in me
the precious gift of faith.
I believe Lord;
Help my unbelief.
