Bishop John Sherrington conferred the Ministry of Lector on three men in formation for the permanent diaconate at a Mass at Our Lady and St Michael’s, Garston, on 12 July. The three men are Paul Quinn from Garston, a school governor, Liam Lynch, school chaplain at St Joan of Arc, Rickmansworth, and Jeremy Yates from Mile End parish who is an astrophysicist. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr David Barrow, the parish priest of Garston.

The role of Lector is conferred when a man has completed his first year of formation for the permanent diaconate. He will receive the Ministry of Acolyte at the end of the second year and then be ordained deacon at the end of the third year.
