St Gregory’s Catholic Science College, Harrow, has been ranked by The Times in the top 25 non-selective state schools in the country for its A Level results.

In 2022, 79% of St Gregory’s students achieved A*-B grades in their A Level examinations.  These examination results were the best in the history of the school, a performance which is particularly notable considering the well-publicised disruption to education caused by numerous national lockdowns over the previous two years.

Assistant Headteacher and Head of St Gregory’s Sixth Form, Narell Dannie, was keen to point out that this type of performance does not happen by chance.  Throughout the academic year, students undertake a programme of study support sessions run by their subject teachers on Saturdays, during school holidays and on most days after school.

Year 13 students Thisbe, Alina and Artur said, ‘At first, we thought these extra study sessions would be onerous, but it’s really not a big deal to come to school on a Saturday morning and we have found the additional sessions really helpful.  We feel we will be very well prepared for our public examinations this summer.’

But St Gregory’s Sixth Form is not just about academic success.  Students take part in a variety of enrichment activities from Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to environmental activities, and from sports to Chaplaincy, Maranatha Band and spectacular drama performances.  Community is at the heart of St Gregory’s and St Gregory’s Sixth Form Students lead the way by mentoring younger pupils, raising money for charity (including for the school’s own food bank) and working with local community organisations to improve and maintain some of the community green spaces around the school.

Commenting on the school’s recent A Level success, St Gregory’s Headteacher, Andrew Prindiville said, ‘These fantastic results are testament to the incredible hard work and dedication of our teaching staff, the support of our parents and governors and the diligent determination of our pupils to fulfil our school motto: “For God, the best and the greatest”.’

In addition to these outstanding A Level results, St Gregory’s GCSE results placed the school in the top 5% of schools nationally for progress.
