In line with changes required by “Towards a Culture of Safeguarding” which includes the alignment of all religious communities for the purposes of safeguarding procedures in the Catholic Church in England and Wales, a new position of Episcopal Vicar for Safeguarding has been created in the Diocese of Westminster and Fr Jeremy Trood has accepted the appointment.
As the role of Safeguarding Coordinator ceases to exist, Mgr Harry Turner is stepping down after 10 years in that role. The Archbishop wishes to expresses sincere thanks to Mgr Turner for his diligence and success in establishing the safeguarding procedures in the Diocese. A deep debt of gratitude is owed to Mgr Turner for dedicated, persevering and pioneering work, often in sensitive and difficult circumstances.
