Ware Parish, Hertfordshire
Launch of Parish Evangelisation Team
Pope Francis calls on all Catholics to be ‘Missionary Disciples’ – to undertake the work of Evangelisation, that is bringing the Good News of the Gospel to others. Jesus commanded the Apostles to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations”, and we are called to carry on that same mission.
Through Westminster Proclaim each parish is asked to establish an Evangelisation Team to look at local needs, and to help the parish respond to those needs through initiatives and activities in areas of Prayer, Faith Formation & Catechesis, Marriage & Family Life, ‘Caritas’ – caring for the needy, and Outreach to the community.
Already a number of parishioners in Ware have been involved in this work through the Parish Missionary Group and through the ‘Looking Ahead’ meeting held before Christmas.
The aim now is to establish a Parish Evangelisation Team to build on this work. It is important that the Team has good representation from across the parish: from people who may not be involved in any other aspects of the parish, and from those who are already active in parish activities.
Through the help of the Evangelisation Team and involvement of parishioners, we look to respond to Pope Francis’ call and become a truly Missionary Parish.
