    Description:
The Call of God. Discipliship in the Old Testament with Sr Ann and Sr Karen
The reality of being a disciple is probably best seen in the Old Testament with a call ‘to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, but also to imitate or reflect God’s character. Israel, as a whole people, was called to that kind of discipleship, by living as the people of God in the midst of the nations, being faithful to its covenant with him, worshipping him alone, and living by the standards of the Torah
God’s desire for Israel was that they would go and teach others about Him. Israel was to be a nation of priests, prophets, and missionaries to the world. They were to be “a light to the nations” God’s intent was for Israel to be a distinct people, a nation who pointed others towards the One true God . “” and His promise of a Redeemer, Messiah, and Saviour. God’s ultimate purpose for Israel—that of bringing the Messiah into the world—was fulfilled perfectly in the Person of Jesus Christ .
Over the centuries people from this nation were called to carry out this purpose. We will reflect on a small selection of these people in this course.
    1. Abraham and Sarah. Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you” (Gen. 1 2 :1) Faith and Trust. A new kind of God
    2. Moses and the people of Israel “So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.” (Exodus 3:10). Living in God’s way Worship and life.
    3. David . God’s kind of government. The LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; for this is the one.”1Samuel 16:12 . How to rule a nation in God’s way. Power is like drinking gin on an empty stomach(pope Francis)
    4. Jonah Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Go at once to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before me.” (Jonah1 ) Who wants to repent?
    5. Esther “Invoke the Lord ,speak to the king for us and save us from death’’ 4:8. The power of Prayer. Courage.

    Description:
The Call of God. Discipleship in the Old Testament with Sr Ann and Sr Karen
Courage.

    Parish Faith Sharing Season
Love – Say it with your Life.
As members of the Church, we are all called upon to preserve the dignity of all human beings, to care for creation, and to reach out to our sisters and brothers in need. These principles form part of Catholic social teaching and are central to our faith. They all begin from our mission to love, which has its source, as Pope Francis puts it, “in the heart of the Trinity”. Pope Francis emphasizes that it is our duty to work together to bring about a more just and peaceful world: to put love into action though how we live our lives.
This autumn’s faith sharing season will help to small groups explore our faith in a God of love and our responsibility to put faith into practice. Participants will be renewed in the social teaching of their faith, and supported to commit to practical expressions of Christian social action. The material will also allow groups and parishes to prepare for the first World Day of the Poor inaugurated by Pope Francis, to be celebrated this year on 19 November.

    The Season week by week:
    Week one: Dignity
Week Two: Option for the Poor
    Week Three: Community and Participation
    Week Four: Dignity of Workers
    Week Five: Solidarity and Peace
    Week Six: Care of Creation

At the beginning of his public ministry, the Lord gave us a description of the way we are all called to love and to live our lives. In this retreat, we will look at each of the Beatitudes in turn. We will reflect together on how relevant and vitally important the Beatitudes are, as we strive to live happy, peaceful, meaningful lives in a world where often there is confusion, doubt and fear.

    Description:
The Call of God. Discipleship in the Old Testament with Sr Anne and Sr Karen

Discipleship in the Old Testament with Sr Anne and Sr Karen
Courage.
