The Diocese is looking to appoint an Estates Building Surveyor to join the property services division, a small team based in Hendon that provides valuation and building services to parishes and schools across the Diocese of Westminster.
With particular responsibility towards the parish estate, the Estates Building Surveyor will be responsible for assisting the Property Director in the maintenance and development of diocesan property to ensure optimal operational performance.
The successful candidate will be either a qualified Chartered Surveyor Building (MRICS) or Chartered Builder (MCIOB) or similar equivalent.
The post-holder will require significant experience in handling key issues relating to property and building works together with a good knowledge of property legislation. An understanding of the ethos of the Catholic Church would also be desirable.
The role will involve close liaison with a variety of stakeholders including our finance team, education department, school governors, head teachers, Clergy, Parishes as well as external professional advisors and contractors.
The appointee will also assist in the long-term asset management of the estate. The building stock ranges from modern buildings to historic buildings, from schools to churches, presbyteries and parish halls. In addition, there is a portfolio of tenanted property. The task is wide ranging interesting and demanding.
Hours of work: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with some evening work required)
Salary: £40-£45K per annum (depending on skills and experience)
