Cardinal Vincent offers prayers and condolences for Las Vegas shooting victims

Cardinal Vincent has offered prayers and condolences for the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas. In a letter to Bishop Joseph Pepe of Las Vegas, the Cardinal expresses his 'deep sorrow' at the 'murderous attack', offering prayers 'for the repose of the souls of those who have died, for those who have been injured, and every family and community affected'.

The complete message reads:

'Your Lordship,

'It was with deep sorrow that I learned of the murderous attack during the open-air music festival, in Las Vegas.

'I pray for the repose of the souls of those who have died, for  those who have been injured, and every family and community affected. These senseless attacks continue to shock the world and all who hold that respect for human life is an essential foundation for every society.

'I assure you, too, of the prayers and condolences of the Catholic Community in England and Wales.

'With every good wish,

Yours sincerely

HE  Cardinal Vincent Nichols

Archbishop of Westminster'
